What you need to know before travelling to the Algarve: 2021 Edition

Top things to do when it’s raining in the Algarve

The Algarve is the beautiful southern coastline of Portugal. This area is home to some beautiful beaches, picturesque fishing towns and has an amazing climate all year round. All these attributes make the Algarve the perfect holiday destination.

So how is it like now that COVID has hit the world?

Well, it’s pretty much the same. The Faro district, where Algarve is, is one of the regions with the lowest number of cases in the country. As long as you take safety precautions, you will be fine.

Safety precautions

The Portuguese government urges people to maintain a 2-metre distance wherever possible. Face masks are mandatory in public areas. In Portugal these legally must be worn in areas such as public transport (the police often come on these to ensure that everyone is abiding by this); wash and disinfect your hands as often as possible, especially when visiting and using public facilities.

How does this affect your travel with us?

At Portugal Airport Transfer, your safety and confidence are extremely important to us and for this reason, our drivers will wear their masks and carry out appropriate sanitation practices. We also would ask you to sit in the back seats to maintain a distance from your driver. Apart from this, our services are still delivered at a high standard.

Where we can take you

Our airport transport services aren’t just for the airport to your hotel. We will be here for as long as you need us and want to make your experience visiting Portugal an amazing one. So here are some must-see places in Portugal that you can go to with our services:

  1. Faro

This is the capital city of the Algarve and is where you’ll be arriving from the airport. There are around 50,000 people living in this area as opposed to Lisbon (505,000) which makes it a nice quiet destination to start your journey around the Algarve. Its old town is home to some historic, traditional roman and Portuguese architecture and beautiful coloured buildings.

  1. Serra de Monchique

Located in the centre of the Algarve, this place is the region's highest peak. A perfect place for a road trip and we can help you get there!

  1. Caves

Both the Benagil and Zorreira caves are a top destination for tourists and it’s not hard to see why. We can drive you to the coast where you can kayak or take a boat to reach them.

  1. Beaches

As this region is on the coastline, you may have expected the beaches to be on our list. With beaches such as Ponta de Piedade, Praia da Falesia, Praia da Rocha and Tavira island. You’ll be spoilt for choice!

  1. Lagos - São Lourenço Church

Located in the Almancil area. This church was built in the 17th century and is still something to marvel at today. Why don’t you let us take you there to see for yourself? The Lagos old town is also worth a stroll around and it’s the home of so many beautiful historic buildings.

Though these are just our suggestions, we will be happy to take you to whichever sites you want to see to. Contact us now on +351 918 479 655 to see how we can help you.
